2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Wan'Dale Robinson

Pro's:

  • Legitimate playmaker, and has exceptional versatility.
  • Probably the best swiss army knife type of player in the class.
  • He has excellent athleticism and elite explosiveness which allows him to make an impact in the air or on the ground.
  • Very good hands, arguably the best trait of his game. He’s often shown this by hauling in extremely difficult catches.
  • When he goes downfield he plays with a genuine toughness and isn’t afraid of taking contact at the catch point.
  • Has all of the skills to be a lethal slot receiver as he has great balance, speed and vision.
  • Gains leverage with ease, thanks to his speed and physicality and will often leave linebackers and defensive ends in his shadow.
  • Extremely dangerous in the open field and will capitalize on this.
  • Good footballing IQ. In the past season alone he has transferred to Kentucky to focus on becoming a dedicated wide receiver and he’s made this transition with ease, understanding the game and his assignments well.

Con's:

  • I love the gadget style player that Robinson is, however as a dedicated wide receiver he’s only been in that role for the past season, still has a lot to learn.
  • His frame is a slight concern. Standing at 5’11 and 185lbs I think a lot of the bigger NFL defenders will be licking their lips when lining up against him.
  • Need to see further improvement on his route tree.
  • On a personal note, I’d like to see Robinson return to the RB/WR role as he is a fun player to watch and in recent years more and more NFL teams seem to like that gadget style player.

The Verdict:

“A four star recruit out of high school who had 13 offers, opting to commit to Nebraska stating it was due to an immediate starting role. In his freshman season this proved to a wise choice, he was heavily involved in their ground game as he rushed 88 times for 340 yards and tapped in to the end zone 3 times. He also hauled in 40 receptions for 453 yards and a further 2 touchdowns. Robinson received All-American Freshman honors via The Athletic. Robinson showed no second year slump as he continued to impress. He had 51 catches for 461 yards and a touchdown as well as carrying the ball 46 times for 240 yards and a touchdown. Another productive season led to Robinson getting nominated for the Paul Hornung Award, for the most versatile football player in college football - he just missed out on the award to DeVonta Smith. In the past season Robinson transferred to his native Kentucky as he wanted to focus on becoming a recognised wide receiver rather than a gadget style player. He made the transition with ease as he had 104 receptions for 1,334 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also had 7 carries for 111 yards. Furthermore, he helped lead the Wildcats to the Citrus Bowl where he was named the MVP as they beat the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was also honored in the second-team All-SEC and was awarded All-SEC first team honors from PFF”
