- Uses his good length to keep himself off blocks and drive towards the backfield
- Works hands to the edge of his opponent and able to penetrate gaps consistently
- Will overwhelm face up blocks with upper body strength and push the pocket
- Demonstrates good vision & anticipation to disengage and meet ball carriers at the LOS
- Single blocks will have a tough time moving him off his spot

- Less than ideal lower body thickness, although anchor wasn’t a consistent issue at UCLA
- Lack of notable burst off the line, more gradual overwhelming of strength to win battles
- Plays a little upright and cedes leverage to his opponent
- Cumbersome working around the edges as a pass rusher
- Questionable conditioning; seems to tire towards the end of games
The Verdict:
“Disruptive more than productive, Otito Ogbonnia is your classic run-stuffing interior offensive lineman with a little less size than desired but still finds ways to win physically at the point of contact. Ogbonnia has never been found wanting for power, and demonstrates his ability to dictate terms and keep himself free to make plays at the heart of the action. Despite having enough about him to play as a five tech and set the edge in the run game, Ogbonnia’s natural home is that of a 4-3 defensive tackle, lining up shading the center and challenging the A gap. He can push the pocket and threaten the edges as a pass rusher but his lack of speed will limit his effectiveness getting to the quarterback. Early downs will be where he earns his paycheck, but expecting much more out of him might be a little bit unrealistic.”
