2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Jaivon Heiligh

Film Watched: Appalachian State 2021, Kansas 2021, Troy 2020

Pro's:

  • Balanced receiver able to employ a variety of methods to be an effective outlet for his QB
  • Productive – the go-to receiver on a dynamic offense that took college football by surprise the last 2 years
  • 2,100 yards and 17 TD’s his last two seasons at Myrtle Beach
  • Quick off the line, with clever footwork to displace any attention into his route stem
  • Smooth runner; glides through his route with militant footwork and enough nuance in and out of breaks
  • Versatile resumes, aligning outside the numbers or in the slot, with pleasing results in both roles
  • Knows how to uncover in congested areas, and appreciate his ability to find space versus zone
  • Takes the ball in stride with good body adjustments and little loss of momentum

Con's:

  • Doesn’t possess the deep speed to be a vertical threat at the next level
  • Requires direction changes to uncover, and won’t create separation running past defenses
  • Loses discipline on sideline routes, failing to hold the redline and keep the passing lane open
  • Hears footsteps, with a noticeable dropoff in receptions in close combat versus open field
  • Not a candidate to break open big plays, with limited acceleration into real estate

The Verdict:

“Jaivon Heiligh has become a legitimate target in the Chanticleer offense the last two seasons as Coastal Carolina have piqued the interest of the nation under head coach Jamey Chadwell and quarterback Grayson McCall. A slippery customer, Heiligh isn’t a polished receiver but he’s proven to be a highly effective one, able to consistently find space to work in and move the chains for this offense. He’s a dedicated prospect with a team-first mentality, and doesn’t shy away from blocking duties or any of the dirty work. But as a future NFL receiver, his projection is a lot tougher. Without the vertical threat to his game Heiligh will be a slot only candidate, and in that role he needs more attention to his route running and more physicality at the catch point to succeed. But his production speaks for itself, and worthy of a late-round investment.”
