Ebiketie_Arnold_H_21_MS_12565

Pro's:

  • Ebiketie is a monster of a pass rusher off the edge.
  • He has excellent flexibility around the edge, possibly one of the best in the class.
  • Often gets the edge against offensive tackles and won’t get pushed too far behind the pocket, helping him get to the quarterback much easier.
  • He has active hands for a pass rusher and can get rid of offensive tackles . Showcases aggressive hand usage when attacking the edge, also has an impressive arsenal of hand moves.
  • A relentless pass rusher who has competitive aggression on every snap.
  • He has a lot of energy and a good motor combined with excellent footballing IQ which enables him to make savvy plays, especially when impacting opposing blockers.
  • An extremely high ceiling. A guy who is 250lbs and nimble on his feet makes him an extremely exciting prospect.
  • Can bull rush through offensive tackles.
  • Multitasks well when bending and accelerating around the edge. Has a unique ability to turn back into the pocket and pressure well when a quarterback slides up.

Con's:

  • When Ebiketie rushes around the edge he loses balance and shows an inability to finish off moves. Often plays too high which limits his ability to gain leverage.
  • Struggled at times in the rush game as offensive tackles can turn him out and carve clear open spaces.
  • He has a good level of speed, however his first step out of the snap is a little underwhelming.

The Verdict:

“An unranked prospect out of high school with limited offers from college programs which had seen him commit to the Temple Owls. His first two years in Temple were underwhelming as he Ebiketie only featured 10 times contributing with a mere 16 tackles and 2.0 sacks throughout this period. In his junior year he began to catch the Nation’s attention as he amassed 32 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss, 4.0 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery which he returned to the house. This led Ebiketie to receiving second-team All-AAC honors. Furthermore, more importantly for his career he transferred to Penn State Nittany Lions A jump in class from the AAC to the Big 10 may be a daunting prospect for most, however Ebiketie excelled in a move that has well and truly paid off. He featured 12 times for the Nittany Lions and racked up a staggering 62 tackles, 18.0 tackles for a loss, 9.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. The successful transition led to Ebiketie receiving FWAA second-team All-American and first-team All-Big 10 honors. ”
