Film Watched: Penn State 2021, Ohio State 2021, Michigan State 2021
Pro's:
Big, broad offensive lineman with experience at both tackle and guard
An absolute unit; extremely difficult to manipulate in the run game
Powerful from top to toe, with a stout anchor and scary strength in his arms
Brutal at the point of contact, facing up run defenders and blowing rushers off course with a strong punch
Will move the man in front of him, regardless of angle, scheme or situation
Excellent length and plays to full extension – getting off his limbs is difficult
Plays on the edge, intimidating opponents by playing through the whistle and beyond
Con's:
High pad level, and plays through his waist. BEND. THE. KNEES!
Finds life difficult when matched power for power
Noted lack of agility – kickslide seems slow to begin with, limiting the depth in his pass sets
NFL edge rushers will stress his outside reach at the top of the arc
Vulnerable to speed moves to his interior as he lacks the hip fluidity to mirror changes in direction
The Verdict:
“A man with the size and demeanour of Andrew Stueber in the trenches with you leaves you feeling confident. He makes no attempt to hide his desire to submit you to his physical will, using his size, natural core strength and aggression to latch on and bulldoze you out of the path of the ball. As a pass protector, Stueber benefits from his long arms that are able to maintain play strength at full extension, but his reliance on his measurements will be tested further as his athletic deficiencies are even more exposed at the next level. The Michigan man’s lack of movement might encourage some scouts to consider him a guard, but it feels like a waste of length to me. Regardless, his best fit is with a run-heavy power scheme that looks to dominate the trenches and keep the clock ticking.”
