Film Watched: Missouri 2021, Georgia 2021, Mississippi State 2020
Pro's:
Athletic offensive tackle with the burst to trouble d-linemen as he flies out of his stance
Strong hands – vice like grip that, once they find the numbers, don’t relinquish
Natural blocker on the move; ideal to pull & lead, and can operate in a zone blocking scheme
Springs into his kickslide quickly to get good depth on his pass sets
Agility to match the quickest edge rushers to the corner
Good hip fluidity to redirect and stifle pass rush moves
Highly competitive and will test defenders mentally with aggression and smack talk
Played at a much bigger weight and showed good anchor and impressive push on contact
Con's:
High pad level. Concedes leverage on most reps
Inconsistent hand placement
Footwork erratic, and balance can be compromised as he plays outside his frame
Dropped A LOT of weight to hit the combine 35lbs lighter than play weight – compromised power?
Suspended for 3 games in 2020; left LSU for Kentucky for “continued disciplinary issues”
The Verdict:
“Find me a Kentucky offensive lineman, and it’s almost guaranteed i’m going to like him; Dare Rosenthal might only have been a Wildcat for one season, but he leaves Lexington with the same nasty demeanour and chip on his shoulder as Logan Stenberg, Drake Jackson and Landon Young. At his playing weight of 325lbs, Rosenthal was quick, agile AND big, so i’m not sure what prompted him to drop to 290lbs for the Combine. In fact, he probably would have been better served improving his core strength, but regardless he brings intriguing traits to the next level. Far from the finished product, Rosenthal will give an investor a high rate of return if he simply cleans up the mechanics, and the ceiling is a starting NFL tackle. But get the weight back on!”
