What’s Hot and What’s Knott in Football – Week 4

By Rhys Knott

Week 4 provided us with some epic NFL propaganda at the hands of Prime Video, which not only refused to talk about just how awful Deshaun Watson has been to women, but also made a female journalist interview him!

But the broadcasters didn’t stop their shenanigans there, oh no.

There was also some football. Not good football, but football, nonetheless.

For the first time in living memory, we have a couple of teams that are very Knott but can’t stop winning.

What’s Hot in Football – Week 4

The opportunity to see NFL games is always hot, even if said games may be soul-destroyingly dull and the weather can be even more grim.

But the real hero of the first London game this year is the Colts mascot, Blue. You wouldn’t catch sane people on that roof, but each to their own, eh?
And while Blue may be hot, it’s very important to understand that they are definitely not a dragon. Got it? Good.
On the field, Jack Sawyer is hot. This tipped pass saved the Steelers from a 42-yard pass interference penalty and got Robert Spears Jennings a first interception in the NFL.
T.J. Watt was hot on the sidelines (but not in the good way), grabbing the headset to give the coaches up in the box a piece of his mind. He did manage to force a fumble and recover it, but that didn’t stop the Steelers from losing in Ohio.
Joe Burrow is sort of hot; 428 yards through the air is impressive, but throwing two picks and losing by five points isn’t.

Kenneth Walker III is smoking hot, not just this Week, but for the whole month.
Walker isn’t the only hot running back doing bits, though. Jonathan Taylor is a record breaker.
And Josh Allen loves breaking records; that’s hot. Losing to the Patriots, not so much.
But Tetairoa McMillan is hotter than everyone else. CeeDee Lamb must have thought he was the top dog after hauling in 17 (!!!) catches for 189 yards against a Texans team who are toast. T-Mac had other ideas, though; how does 192 receiving yards from 14 catches grab you?
Now it’s time for our new section; we’re calling this one “when whoopsies become yay’s”. There is some speculation that the 49ers did this on purpose, but judging by Brock Purdy’s look of complete confusion, there’s more chance Kaelon Black saved some blushes here.
Darius Cooper definitely saved Jalen Hurts from an earful of Nick Sirianni abuse with this touchdown grab.
But Brandon Coleman wins the prize for most extraordinary play in Week 4. Even if he did need to go for a lie-down afterwards.
And finally, here’s what you’ve all been waiting for: it’s hilarious interception time! Giants rookie linebacker is up first; this ball took quite the path to get to the former Buckeye.
This Cooper DeJean pick is more of an optical illusion than it is an interception. How did one of the Rams players not grab it first?
But the funniest Week 4 interception is Trenton Simpson’s. Yes, Cam Ward shouldn’t have thrown the pass, but how did Tony Pollard pass it to a defender?

What’s Knott in Football – Week 4

First and foremost, there’s the Taylor Rooks being forced to talk to someone that nobody wants to talk to, except maybe the authorities, thing. This is the most Knott thing you’ll see for a while.
And it was rightly criticised by all right-minded humans.
Then there’s the Cris Collingsworth not so much licking the league’s boots as giving them a whole tongue bath. He decided that not only is this a penalty, but also it’s a great rule by the league. Firstly, there’s nothing wrong with backup QB’s big fella, but more importantly, there’s no way a defender should be penalised for being blocked into the signal caller! So much Knott in one place.
On the field, the third-oldest team in the league playing on the road after three days’ rest against the most penalised team in the league is very Knott. Let’s never do that again, please.

Swearing at your head coach is very Knott, Aaron, even if it is darn funny.
Aaron Rodgers and his receivers have all the chemistry of an old married couple heading for divorce, but if you’re expecting the Browns to get some flowers this week, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

What the heck is this defense? Everyone roll on the ground and hope the Steelers forget you’re there?
Guys, are the Browns lowkey absolutely Knott? They just might be.
Seriously, how does this happen?
The Browns aren’t the only team that might be Knott but still keep winning. The Vikings have a defense that only knows how to blitz and an offense that doesn’t know how to score touchdowns. That’s very Knott.
There are no such questions about the 2026 Jets; they are very Knott.
And so are the Dolphins!
Aaron Rodgers wasn’t the only one with a case of the potty mouth this week. This official giving Trey McBride both barrels? You bet that’s Knott.
On the topic of aggro officials, what is happening here? Whatever it is, it’s very Knott.

And while we’re talking about the officials, they are having quite the season.

Obviously not all penalties are mistakes by the Zebras, but as we’ve already seen, nobody seems to know what roughing the passer is these days.
When it comes to pass interference? Well, the players sure don’t have the same idea as the guys throwing the flags.
That isn’t enough contact for a flag, but this one is. It’s just a mess.
But you know what was even worse at the Tottenham Stadium in Week 4? Having a third-string quarterback who could throw the ball further than the punter could kick it.

Tress Way looked like he’d never even seen a football, let alone punted one. His furthest attempt travelled just 49 yards. Meanwhile, Athan Kaliakmanis is out there doing this.
