With the NFL Draft approaching we will be looking at each team and evaluating where they need to improve. In this particular series we will run a seven round mock using the Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator and find the ‘Perfect Picks’ for each franchise.
We will highlight four players that could help each team. This will feature picks 1 and 2, a mid round gem and a late round sleeper.
The benefit of having multiple first round picks is that you have the ability to take a falling star. Stingley is exactly that. There are concerns over his durability and how he seemed to check out once his team weren’t in with a shout. That said, he has the most eye-popping tape of the corners. Excellent speed, length and ball skills are exactly what the Eagles need from a day 1 corner.
The Jalen Raegor pick hasn’t panned out for the Eagles. They didn’t rest on their laurels and went back to the well to get Devonta Smith. Now they can pair him with a different style receiver in Burks. The Arkansas wideout works heavily from the slot and can be utilised on trick plays. The athletic testing didn’t wow but the size and YAC ability should translate at the next level.
The Eagles could stand to get more athletic at the linebacker spot. Leo Chenal’s 9.99 RAS score shows that he would be an instant upgrade. He is a strong, physical 6’2, 250lbs but doesn’t give up any speed due to his bigger frame. He has the ability to drop in coverage and move sideline-to-sideline hastily. It would be a shock to see him on the board here but the Eagles would race the card up.
Fletcher Cox has been a mainstay of the Eagles defensive front but it is time to look for younger options. The Eagles have a nice rotation with Milton Williams and Javon Hargrave in toe. Kalia Davis would add some further pass rush juice. He is only 6’2 but has some twitch to penetrate opposing offensive lines. He will need to get stronger in the run game but he would certainly lighten the load on the current defensive front.
