  • Times the snap well to get a good jump
  • Uses a spin counter effectively at times
  • Does a phenomenal job diagnosing screens
  • Motor is always running red hot
  • Shows pretty good straight line speed when attempting to run down ball carriers

Con's:

  • Undersized and lacks elite length – sub 33” arms
  • When blockers get hands on he has a tough time disengaging
  • Never really flashes – I might not have known he was on the field had I not been watching specifically for him
  • Little to no production in the backfield against elite competition – 2.5 sacks on the season (2 vs Toledo, .5 vs Purdue) (50% of TFLs came in the same games)

The Verdict:

“Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa had an impressive motor on tape, he just didn’t have the tools to consistently back it up. His first step off the snap is pretty good, and he showed the use of a spin move, but sometimes attempting it got him in trouble. He doesn’t have the anchor to stand up the double teams on the interior, and if I had to guess, that’s why he played the EDGE at ND. Tagovailoa-Amosa will need to put on some weight and up his play strength to play snaps in the NFL. He, according to multiple sources, is a great leader in the locker room, so perhaps he could carve out a role that way.”
