- Good size and solid frame that looks capable of taking some NFL-level punishment
- Throws a pretty ball that receivers appreciate, easy to catch and hitting them in stride

Con's:
- The opposite of a gunslinger; tentative to push the ball into tight windows where necessary
- Inconsistent accuracy beyond the intermediate field, and airs some balls towards the sidelines
- Statuesque in the pocket – doesn’t demonstrate elusiveness or climb the pocket consistently
- Not a threat on the ground, and will very rarely pick up yardage with his legs
- Throw the ball away! Too many sacks taken where he’s waited too long for plays to develop
The Verdict:
“A cruel non-contact injury in the 2020 preseason meant that Jack Coan would miss a whole year of football, where his Wisconsin teammate Graham Mertz stole the starting job and never looked back. Despite this adversity, Coan headed to South Bend and improved on his solid 2019 numbers, leading Notre Dame to an eleven-win season and a New Year’s Six bowl game. Calling him uninspiring may be unfair, but Coan is the epitome of a game manager and will likely be considered a backup at the next level. His intelligence will allow him to carve a career out as a backup and scout team QB, but as a low ceiling prospect he probably won’t hear his name called on draft weekend.”
