The Verdict:
“Twenty years ago, Tanner McKee’s draft stock would have been a lot higher than it is today. Something of a throwback to the big armed statues of the 2000’s, McKee has the size and juice to orchestrate an offense from the pocket - but offers little when things don’t go to plan. There was some pleasing development as a senior in terms of doing more things he’s likely going to be asked of him at the next level, and whilst he wasn’t incapable of running RPO’s or play action it certainly didn’t feel natural. McKee simply doesn’t possess the characteristics craved by a modern NFL offense; he doesn’t have the athletic ability to challenge defenses on the ground, and you don’t get the hint of any x-factor to his game. The arm will appeal enough to hear his name called. After that, his longevity in the league will depend on any untapped potential.”
