- Indecisive. Needs to know when to plant his foot and go
- Wasted steps behind the line of scrimmage in power schemes – too much lateral movement
- Questionable decision making when he doesn’t like what the primary gap has to offer
- Slight frame that could benefit from added bulk
- Lack of lower body torque limits YAC and renders him uncompetitive as a blocker
- Found blindly running into trouble when blocking fails, with frequent loss of yards as a result
The Verdict:
“Tyler Goodson grew into a full-time role at Iowa, and whilst he demonstrated that he could handle the workrate, he was much more effective as a complimentary piece. Everything about Goodson screams third-down back; jitterbug running style who likes to bounce outside if allowed, with sufficient pass-catching prowess so that an offense can keep the full playbook open. Anything more than that seems like a stretch at the next level - he doesn’t have the size or power for consistent yardage, and exposure to that kind of punishment will likely put a strain on his longevity. If he can develop his ability to read what is in front of him pre-snap, he has a shot at being a contributor in a running back stable.”
