2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Breece Hall

Film Watched: Oklahoma State 2021, Teas 2021, Kansas 2020

Pro's:

  • Big, strong running back with plenty of suddenness
  • Highly reactive; able to adjust the run to take advantage of better opportunities
  • Good field vision behind the line of scrimmage – sees the big picture
  • Got some serious ‘shake & bake’ to him – elusive in traffic and can fit through tiny gaps
  • Quick feet and impressive short-area agility; effortless cuts and quick steps
  • Hard to track down once he reaches top speed
  • Powerful into contact, demonstrating good leg drive to push for more yards
  • Impressive ball security throughout his Cyclone career
  • Fairly reliable as a pass-catcher, with more than 700 receiving yards in 36 games

Con's:

  • Strictly a zone runner – reliant on the extra time to see the field and process
  • Noticeable dropoff in production on inside power/gap runs where instincts take over
  • Top speed is fine, but sluggish acceleration means it takes a while for him to get there
  • Gets caught dancing in the backfield & through the line of scrimmage
  • High pad level – needs to play with better leverage in the pro’s
  • Blocking technique is raw, but he has the size & dedication to be an asset in this regard

The Verdict:

“With strong family ties to the NFL, Breece Hall was destined to be a running back. And it’s fair to say his collegiate career will have made his cousin Roger Craig (RB, 49ers) and stepfather Jeff (RB, Buccaneers) proud. Hall is a big running back with some serious wiggle, able to make defenders miss before escaping into the secondary. Without doubt suited to a zone blocking scheme where he can scrape behind the LOS and allow gaps to develop, Hall appreciates the time that system allows for him to survey the landscape in front of him. Despite his size, some exposures leave you a little disappointed he doesn’t force the issue on occasion, instead trying to slip his way out of trouble. I think it’s fair to say there'll be an adjustment to the next level, but his Combine performance will push him into day two.”
