2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Romeo Doubs

Film Watched: Kansas State 2021, San Diego State 2020, Fresno State 2020

Pro's:

  • Vertical wide receiver with the size, speed and length to be a problem on the outside in the NFL
  • Productive; contributor all four years at Nevada, with 1,100 yards and 20 TD’s in his last two seasons
  • Insane acceleration off the snap, demonstrating good burst to blow by man coverage
  • Legitimate deep speed. Will take the top off a defense and get separation from his quicks alone
  • Aggressive nature at the point of catch. Owns the space and works the tight sidelines well
  • Works hard to adjust to the developing picture under center and offer an outlet on broken plays
  • Relishes blocking duties
  • Special teams value; returned punts all four years for The Wolfpack

Con's:

  • High cut receiver with noticeable lack of agility when changing direction
  • Short to intermediate routes hindered by stiff hips, limiting separation
  • Lightweight lower half makes it difficult for him to play through early contact at the line of scrimmage
  • Concentration drops early on at Nevada, although improved in this regard in 2021.
  • Yards after the catch come from speed to evade tackles, but minor contact will bring him down

The Verdict:

“The combination of Romeo Doubs and Carson Strong was a perfect marriage for The Wolfpack as they boasted one of the most dangerous vertical passing games in the nation the last couple of years. A true speed merchant, Doubs challenges any defense that gives him room to accelerate and attack their secondary. Used predominantly on the outside at Nevada, Doubs could also operate as a big slot in the NFL, although adding some more torque to work through traffic would benefit this. One-dimensional in the regard that he won’t work the first two levels consistently, Doubs is your classic WR2 with the deep threat that requires enough attention teams can’t stack the box or double team any other weapon, and with his explosive return ability will be a very attractive option for teams as an early day three selection.”
