- Alarmingly sluggish change of direction for a former basketballer
- Will struggle to mirror and reset against quicker rushers with sharp counter moves
- Poor 3-cone and 20 yard shuttle at the Combine further raises agility concerns
- Jerky kickslide, with second foot pounding rather than gliding
- High pad level and lack of knee bend – height makes this naturally hard for him to overcome
The Verdict:
“Obinna Eze has the arm length coaches dream of, and the size to suggest he can develop into a starting NFL tackle. He’s by no means even close to that right now though, with too many inconsistencies in his skillset to consider throwing him out there. More weight on his frame is a must, as without it Eze might struggle to ever have the anchor to absorb bull rushers or manipulate defenders off the ball. Whether that comes at a cost to his movement is as yet unknown, but in that regard Eze already struggles to redirect himself at full speed. The former Memphis and TCU lineman screams project, and any team looking at him as a late round possibility will have to anticipate an elongated acclimatisation to the next level.”
