2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

EllissNoah_HS_202021

Film Watched: Northern Arizona 2021, Southern Utah 2021

Pro's:

  • Big boy defensive lineman with a wide frame and all the play strength required for the NFL
  • Unmatched power at the point of attack; will displace blockers with ease
  • Hands don’t stop moving – a difficult man to control and manipulate
  • Consumes running lanes with his width and tackle radius
  • Lower body torque to absorb double teams and still maintain his gap integrity
  • Has the hand strength to stack and shed at the FCS level
  • Has enough lateral movement to combat more fluid, outside running schemes
  • Can force his way into the backfield by using power to the edges of blockers & widening gaps

Con's:

  • Plays without leverage. Pads too high and it compromises his anchor on occasion
  • Ponderous out of his stance. Doesn’t challenge an opponent’s readiness for contact
  • Read and react skills betray his ability to maintain & dispose of blocks to the football
  • Sloppy tackles at times on tape
  • Transferred from SEC to the FCS – steep step up in competition awaits

The Verdict:

“Noah Elliss had over twenty scholarship offers coming out of high school from a range of SEC and PAC-12 teams before choosing Starkville as his new home. It wasn’t long before he joined his father at Idaho - The Vandals are coached by former Lions defensive lineman Luther Elliss, and his two brothers also plied their collegiate trade at the Kibbie Dome. If you’re someone who looks for size first, Elliss is going to pique your interest - at nearly 350lbs he’s a big man that can destroy an opponent’s run game. Concerns about his burst and technique are valid, and those weaknesses are only going to be exacerbated as he jumps to the next level. Elliss dominated FCS opponents by overwhelming them with his brute strength - but that alone won’t cut it in the NFL. A project with some upside, Elliss might need a year or two to acclimate.”
