2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Film Watched: Oregon 2021, Purdue 2021, Michigan 2021

Pro's:

  • Tall, long offensive lineman who isn’t finished adding muscle mass to his frame
  • Length allows him to manipulate opponents outside of his frame and away from danger
  • Agile & graceful across the turf, with all the movement needed to get to his landmark on time
  • Love his adjustment speed, and can mirror any pass rush move
  • Conscious of exposing his inside and rarely oversets
  • Hand placement improved year on year, and appreciate his commitment to resetting hands
  • Plays through the whistle
  • Flashed the ability to dominate as a run blocker as he embraces his bigger size and increased power

Con's:

  • Raw. Looks more suited to left tackle but only played there one full season
  • Eager to engage contact and sometimes caught reaching, playing over his toes & losing leverage
  • Feet and hands need synchronising; footwork can be a spot erratic
  • Sometimes takes naive angles to more savvy pass rushers who can lure him out with misdirection
  • Body growth a work in process. Continued addition of weight will improve run blocking success

The Verdict:

“After locking down the right tackle spot in 2020, Nicholas Petit-Frere switched to the blindside for his final season in Columbus, and the results were surprisingly pleasing. Looking more comfortable on the left, Petit-Frere demonstrated his fluidity and ease with which he moves across the turf, and was a difficult opponent to breach. NPF has a big frame that looks capable of adding more weight, which will be necessary for him to develop the core strength needed to compete in the NFL. His development during his time at Ohio State suggests that won’t be a problem, but it does mean there might be a transitional period for teams to embrace as he acclimates to the next level. He’s not quite oven-ready, which caps his draft stock, but the ceiling is a starting NFL left tackle.”
