2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

SANDERS_MYJAI

Pro's:

  • Too powerful to block him with a TE
  • Better lower body strength then one would expect
  • Always working his hands – showed off a rip, swim, stick and shed, and a club
  • Get off ranges from borderline offsides to very bad – but when the get off is great, it sets up all his moves to perfection
  • Consistently sets a hard edge against the run
  • Uses great inside out counters to create wide open rushing lanes for himself

Con's:

  • Pass Rush production fell off heavy from year 3 to year 4
  • Very light for the defensive line – sub 230 pounds
  • Has the height, but his arm length is lackluster – sub 33”
  • Had more offsides penalties then sacks as a senior
  • Doesn’t show the ability to turn an elite get off into a dominant bull rush

The Verdict:

“Myjai Sanders is a very intriguing edge prospect, because he’s athletic enough, has good enough hands, his frame just leaves doubt on if he’ll be able to make it in the NFL. If Myjai clocked in at 250 pounds on the scale, with his tape and athleticism, he would be considered a first round pick by many. However, he is a below average athlete for someone below 230 pounds. If he can add the weight on, while maintaining the burst he has right now, he could develop into a very good pass rusher. For now, he will likely be drafted as a developmental prospect, used in designated pass rush packages.”
