- Excellent build to play the EDGE
- Great explosion off the snap
- Showed the ability to bend the edge and win the rush from the outside
- Years and years of college production
Con's:
- Lacks elite pop in his hands
- Even with 5 years in CFB, displayed a lack of secondary rush moves
- Proved to not have a pass rush plan on most snaps
- Did not participate in explosive drills at combine
- Could be a liability against the run in the NFL
The Verdict:
“Malone is another long, juiced up EDGE rusher with all the explosiveness on display that you’d like to see. After spending 5 years at WKU he proved to be an incredibly productive player, with 3 seasons over 10 TFL and 4 seasons with 6 or more sacks. Those numbers don’t come without some bad though, as Malone will need to improve his anchor to make it on the next level. This EDGE class is filled with toolsy prospects who may just require a bit of seasoning to make it in the NFL, and DeAngelo Malone is no different.”
