- Knows how to force a receiver off the redline on the outside with strength & clever body positioning
- A real smooth mover across the turf. Flows to mirror receivers, and transitions from backpedal to pursuit well
- Shows good agility to maintain proximity to opponent through route breaks
- Long arms to thrust into the catch point
- Competitive climbing the ladder and high pointing the football
- Heightened instincts and wary of misdirection and double moves

Con's:
- Has been vulnerable on deep routes despite an impressive 4.39 second 40 at the combine
- Click and close speed a little sluggish when operating in zone
- Some very erratic tackling on tape
- Engages in contact with poor pad height. Noticeable struggles getting off blocks against the run
- Felt like a step back in 2021 versus the 2020 tape
The Verdict:
“Kaiir Elam toiled somewhat as part of a football program going through a challenging era by their own standards. Despite that, there is no doubting the skillset that Elam brings to the next level; a big, long corner, Elam thrived in press coverage at Florida, utilising his play strength and football smarts to be a challenging opponent for even the best SEC receivers. Elam plays with good on-field intelligence and is capable of operating in both zone and off-man coverage, making him scheme versatile and an ideal candidate for an outside role in the NFL. He ran well at the combine which will appease some questions regarding his athletic skillset, and if he can clean up some technique issues and show a little more enthusiasm defending the run then there’s definitely starter potential to be harnessed here.”
