- Lean frame that would benefit from a rigorous weight program
- Can be intimidated when up against bigger bodied receivers at the outside
- Press coverage can displace his route and knock his timing
- Strong hands at the catch point, but want to see better use of the body to frame out defenders
- Lack of balance at top speed, and minor contact can bring him down
The Verdict:
“Jahan Dotson’s levels of speed and agility are rare even for the next level. The former Nittany Lion pairs that with refined route running and a mastery of the subtle nuances of the position to be a deadly receiver on the outside - and thoughts and prayers to any defense that gives him an inch of daylight after the catch. The king of the double move, Dotson will embarrass defensive backs on occasion and always find room to operate. That being said, his lack of body strength and physicality will be magnified at the next level, and a role from the slot is probably ill-advised. That might limit him to a day two selection, but that track speed outside the numbers will make Dotson a very desirable investment for teams looking for more explosiveness from their offense.”
