- Good play diagnosis and seems to always be around the football
- Smooth mover behind the line of scrimmage; scrapes well to the ball, keeping his gap integrity
- Displays elite instincts in pass coverage, with sufficient click and close speed to disrupt passes in front of him
- Locker room leader, team captain and excellent on-field communicator
- Inside-outside linebacker versatility
- Projects as a significant special teams contributor

Con's:
- Lack of lower body power – skinny from the waist down, and struggles to sink against downblocks
- Hand usage when engaging with blockers needs more refinement
- Subpar length, which hasn’t affected his tackling but makes it difficult to keep off blocks
- A little stiff in his change of direction
- Less proficient in man coverage, and refined route-running RB’s can create separation
The Verdict:
“Much like fellow Wyoming alumni Logan Wilson, Chad Muma might have been overlooked during the college football season playing out in Laramie. But turn on the tape and all you see is tackle after tackle. An intimidating presence at middle linebacker, Muma simply dominated opponents in 2021, shutting down running games for fun. Wilson was one of my sleepers in the 2020 draft but there’s no danger of Muma slipping through the cracks; his proficiency against both the run and the pass makes him a future three-down starter at the next level. Muma possesses a healthy athletic profile and plays with a physical edge, but adding some lower body torque will aid his transition to the NFL. Perfectly suited as an ILB in a 3-4 but by no means restricted to one scheme, Muma is a future pro bowler and an early day two pick.”
