- Undersized, and despite being quite condensed it translates to a shortfall of power
- Keen to mitigate his strength deficiency with momentum, and balance issues arise as a result
- Seeks contact too quickly; early hands can be manipulated by more patient run defenders
- Inconsistent positioning and depths to his pass sets
- Doesn’t set his feet firmly enough to take on bullrushers with any consistency
The Verdict:
“Cameron Jurgens opened some eyes at the NFL Combine with an impressive 4.92 second forty yard dash, but it’s telling that he opted out of any further athleticism drills; the Nebraksa center is quick but ungainly in his movements, with a lot of wasted steps and poor footwork that would trouble talent evaluators. Speed is certainly his calling card, which together with his high motor, strong work ethic and competitiveness on every snap has seen him become a bit of a folk hero in Lincoln. Jurgens enters the NFL slightly undersized and slightly strength deficient - but you wouldn't think it considering how effective he is. If he lands on a team that utilises predominantly zone blocking concepts he has a chance to become a future starter, but I predict some growing pains before he gets there."
