In 2019 the Baltimore Ravens took the top seed in the AFC with a 14-2 record. 2020 sees that top seed take on even more importance in the new 14-team playoff. With so much on the line who do our analysts see as the #1 seed in the AFC in 2020?
Alex Chinery (Head of Analytics): Kansas City Chiefs
The best team in the NFL has retained its core and will be emboldened by having a Super Bowl trophy in the cabinet. Expect the Chiefs to push the boundary this year as they chase the coveted bye.
Ben Rolfe (Head of NFL Content): Indianapolis Colts
The Colts have a decent schedule but they also have a quarterback desperate to prove himself and the best offensive line in the game. Defense is a concern, but that unit is slowing improving. Look for the Colts to get to 13 wins this season

Callum Squires (NFL Analyst): Kansas City Chiefs
I think their slightly weaker division this year (Raiders second, Broncos and Chargers losing records…) helps them get the top seed this year. Ravens will be a close second.
Michael Norbury (NFL Betting Analyst): Baltimore Ravens
An exceptional team with a soft schedule, the Chiefs are the only danger.
Paul Mainwaring (NFL Analyst): Kansas City Chiefs
They are my Super Bowl favourite so expect them to win the most games. I also think the AFC North is stronger than the west which hinders Baltimore.
Simon Carroll (Head of NFL Draft Content): New England Patriots
Maybe a long shot, but in these testing times I’m not sure any team will be better prepared for an unpredictable season than one run by Bill Belichick. Don’t be fooled by the opt-outs and departed talent folks – The Patriots are still a force. Bet against the hooded genius at your peril.
Steve Moore (NFL Betting Analyst): Kansas City Chiefs
This is possibly the toughest category as both premier teams play in competitive divisions and neither the Bills or Patriots are good enough to go 6-0 in the weak East. I’ll go with the Chiefs as they are the best team in the AFC.
Tom Scott (NFL and Fantasy Football Analyst): Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens will edge the Chiefs this year in the AFC.
