With the NFL Draft approaching we will be looking at each team and evaluating where they need to improve. In this particular series we will run a seven round mock using the Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator and find the ‘Perfect Picks’ for each franchise.
We will highlight four players that could help each team. This will feature picks 1 and 2, a mid round gem and a late round sleeper.
The Seahawks are in desperate need of help at offensive tackle. Duane Brown is a free agent and an ageing one at that. Without a first round pick, the Hawks could be searching for a starter in the second round. Nicholas Petit-Frere has his shortcomings, as displayed against the likes of Aidan Hutchinson and Arnold Ebiketie. However, he fits the size and athleticism profile teams look for and for the most part was solid at left tackle for Ohio State. He has the upside to be a long term starter.
Being part of one of the most talented linebacking groups in the country limited Channing Tindall’s opportunities at Georgia. That said, despite a small sample size he flashed big-time potential. With sideline to sideline range, strong tackling and the ability to drop in coverage, Tindall could be the modern-day LB to pair with Jordyn Brooks. The big question is Bobby Wagner; age is against him as well as a cap hit. Picking Tindall could signal Wagner’s time is up.
It’s an uninspiring pass rush group in Seattle. The first-round selection of LJ Collier seemed a reach and continues to do so. Carlos Dunlap has impressed but is another player who will be keeping an eye on Father Time. Isaiah Thomas is similar in a way to Collier but offers better value here and more twitch. He certainly could be a player who benefits from making the step up to the pro game. The Hawks will hope he can provide some much-needed juice up front.
Rashaad Penny showed some of his worth for the Seahawks just in time for them to have to think closely about resigning him. They have Chris Carson and a pool of backups but should Penny not be in Seattle then using a late pick on new blood would be no surprise. Price gives them a bit of punch and power that would allow him to spell the others and test the endurance of offensive fronts.
