What’s Hot and What’s Knott in Football – Week 3

By Rhys Knott

There is so much hotness in Week 3 that we won’t even be able to complain about the refereeing inconsistencies and ghost calls.

But don’t worry, there’s still plenty to grumble about!

There’s a new award that might not be as catchy as the Malik of the Week prize, but it’s impressive, nonetheless.

Davante Adams is having a very hot fortnight; he’s racked up 332 receiving yards on 15 catches. But, as impressive as those numbers are, Adams is 166 yards behind the record for receiving yards over a two-game stretch. In 2013, Josh Gordon torched the Steelers for 237 yards and followed that up by racking up 261 against the Jags!

More importantly, we still have some hilarious interceptions to point and laugh at.

What’s Hot in Football – Week 3

Aggro is hot in Week 3, and let’s be honest, we can all get behind that. If we can just maintain this energy for the rest of the season, we’ll be in for a treat.

The Steelers and Bengals have a historically heated rivalry, so when you think about it, Rashawn and Erick are just adding to our cultural heritage! That’s sort of hot.
Then D.K. Metcalf decided he didn’t like Dexter Lawrence’s attitude, or cologne, or something. Sexy Dexy is just lucky he isn’t a Lions fan.
Notice how nobody tried to start a fight with Darnell Washington? That’s because he’s massive and he can do this!

Remember Ja’Marr Chase’s frankly magical catch in Houston last week? Well, so does Tyler Higbee, and he thinks it’s no big deal. This, from a 253-pound tight end, is supernatural!

But that’s not the only scorching hot catch this week, not by a long shot. Check this Jaylen Waddle effort out!
Kenyon Sadiq can make a hot catch when he wants to.
Statistically, Jaxon Smith-Njigba is smoking hot in Week 3.
And, while we’re talking about stats, Deebo Samuel had a terrifically hot stat line in Week 3! This counts as a Mike Evans catch, but Deebo gets 80 receiving yards!
Bijan Robinson is hot. Not only did he lead all running backs with 194 rushing yards, he also seems like the kind of guy you want on your team. What a dude.
Drake London is hot too. How about dem Falcons?
Now for the important stuff. It’s time for the “Brevyn Spann Ford Hit of the Week” award. Week 3’s recipient involves the Cowboys tight end de-cleating Kyle Hamilton. Kyle must be wishing he hadn’t bent down. Now that’s a hot BSF hit!
While we’re on the subject of big hits, let’s take our weekly look at a defender smoking the unfortunate ball carrier. This week it’s Justin Reid from the Saints absolutely clattering poor Ashton Jeanty. This might be hot, but it didn’t stop the Raiders running out winners in NOLA.
We all know blocking kicks is hot; Jalen Carter did it back in Week 1. But blocking a field goal when you only have 10 men on the field? It’s really difficult to know if that’s hot or just taking the Mickey.
Here’s the bit you’ve all been waiting for, it’s hilarious interceptions time. 20 passes got picked off in Week 3; Talanoa Hufanga and Genesis Smith bagged two apiece! But when it comes to comical picks, this one from Aaron Rodgers is just 10/10, no notes.
This Genesis Smith pick is hot, but D.J. Moore sorta gave it to him. Fantastic reactions from the Chargers’ rookie, but Moore is off to a rough start in Western New York.
This is a hot one from hot Dolphins rookie Jacob Rodriguez.

Even the golden boy who is Trevor Lawrence threw a giggle pick.

The Cowboys have got their own stud rookie linebacker too. Jaishawn Barham is hot!
On the topic of rookies, Sonny Styles is so hot. The Commanders’ linebacker absolutely buried Saquon in Week 1, but he’s not just a downhill pass rusher. The 6-foot-5, 243-pound former safety can cover running backs out of the backfield (even really fast ones like Jadarian Price).
And he can make hilarious interceptions. Be still my beating heart indeed, that’s one hot linebacker right there!
Cheating is hot in Week 3 too. So hot that special teams coordinators had to have an emergency meeting to stop them from doing it!
Jahmyr Gibbs doing the Aaron Glenn dance might not look hot, but ribbing the guy who left your team to coach the Jets is always hot! Seriously, why would you do that?
A porta-potty race across a car park? You know that’s hot, even if the weather isn’t.
Finally, the Broncos uniform in Week 3? That’s the hot one (seriously, the rest stink).

What’s Knott in Football - Week 3

Censorship is very Knott. But censorship on behalf of billionaires representing a warmongering nation is unacceptably Knott!
Aggro between players might be hot, but aggro directed at officials is very much Knott. What the hell is Joe Brady doing here?
Riley Moss. Riley Moss. And even more Riley Moss. In case you can’t tell, Broncos cornerback Riley Moss is very Knott. Not content with leading the league in pass interference penalties in 2025, he’s apparently now decided that covering wide receivers is someone else’s job.
You’ll never guess what else is Knott in Week 3. Throwing the ball. Matt Stafford, Sam Darnold, Geno Smith and Jordan Love all threw for more than 300 yards and all lost!

There were a couple of very Knott uniforms on show in Week 3 too. As ably demonstrated by both the Colts and Bills this week, it’s impossible to play well when you look like an Ocean Patrol Frigate. Time to declare a moratorium on battleship grey uniforms.
At least the Bills won.
But even if you win, losing five turnovers is still Knott.
That’s not even the worst disaster to happen in Buffalo this week! No ice cream is very Knott. Come on, guys, get it together!
The good news for the Bills is that they’re not the Packers. Oh boy is that Knott.
There is one thing that makes the Packers’ offensive line look good, though. It’s the Packers’ run defense. Even a legendary wide receiver has noticed how terrible they are at stopping the run.
And, as error-strewn as the Bills are, they’re definitely better than the Patriots. That’s all sorts of Knott!
The Patriots might be impotent in the redzone, but at least they get there! The Vikings’ chuck-and-duck offence would be very Knott against anyone not named the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay really need a healthy Ruben Bain to do the sort of things he did in Miami.
Trying to burn the clock when there’s still 8 minutes of the game left? You better believe that’s Knott.
Yo, Jameis, tackling your own running back is Knott!
