What’s Hot and What’s Knott in Football – Week 10
By Rhys Knott
Jonathan Taylor’s 286 total yards from scrimmage is so hot that it’s the hottest thing that will happen this week or any week of the 2025 NFL season! That’s unfortunate for De’Von Achane, who racked up 225 yards from scrimmage of his own in a very soggy Miami.
Hat tricks are hot again. Last week, it was hat tricks of touchdowns; this week, it’s touchdowns and sacks!
Playing in Germany is hot, even if Berlin’s weather isn’t. If you’re the Jaguars, breaking records is hot, and Matt Stafford is so hot you need to wear a welding mask when you watch him! And punching a guy wearing a helmet is still very Knott.
But that’s not even the worst thing that happened at the Commanders’ game!
What’s Hot in Football – Week 10
A blue horse (sort of) named Blue is very hot. The Colts’ mascot and their dedicated Twitter account are a hoot! This week Blue put a Falcons’ helmet in a recycling bin, but after the Colts beat Raheem Morris’ team, they found a better place for the helmet.
That’s not all Blue got up to in Berlin. He even pie’d everyone’s favourite Colts insider @Georgeonsports.

On the field, the Colts’ offense delivered hotness to Germany. Jonathan Taylor went ham on a Falcons defense that really refuses to stop the run. The only surprising part of Taylor’s day is that, after going 200 yards on the ground in the first four quarters he had to wait to overtime to complete his hat trick.
With three rushing touchdowns in Weeks 3, 5, 7 and today in week 10, Colts RB Jonathan Taylor is now the only player in NFL history to record four games with at least three rushing touchdowns through the first 10 weeks of a season. pic.twitter.com/Tt9Ur8fsIh

Jeff Ulbrich’s defense is unable to stop the run, but they sure get after the passer. Only four teams have more sacks than the 2025 Falcons, and they got Daniel Jones seven times in Week 10!

Parker Washington broke the Jaguars’ punt return touchdown record in Houston as the Jaguars looked to be cruising to victory (more on that later). He’s returned two for TDs in Wembley in the last two seasons, but a penalty negated this year’s effort.
. @CPW11_ registered the third punt returned for a touchdown of his career, the most in franchise history, in today’s matchup to put the Jaguars ahead 17-0. Rarely do the words “ever seen a football bounce at a right angle?” provide this much entertainment. Raiders’ punter A.J. Cole somehow made the ball do this in Denver.

The Broncos’ special teams took revenge later in the game when JL Skinner blocked Cole’s punt with his facemask!

While penalising and fining a player for celebrating is draconian beyond belief, Keegan-Michael Key is definitely hot. Rico Dowdle’s Week 9 celebration, inspired by a 2012 Key and Peele sketch. cost the Panthers’ running back $14,491! But being a salt-of-the-earth kind of guy, Rico partnered with GoFundMe to turn his fine into a fundraising opportunity for the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina.
That’s when Keegan-Michael Key joined in, with a little help from Dave Canales and the Panthers.
#Panthers HC Dave Canales surprised RB Rico Dowdle with a message from Keegan-Michael Key after his “2-pump” TD celebration. 😂😂

The Dolphins might actually be better now that they’ve traded Jaelan Phillips to Philadelphia, but at least his cats got some cool new merch.

Now, on to those hat tricks. Jonathan Taylor obviously scored three rushing touchdowns. Jahmyr Gibbs scored two rushing and a receiving TD. And Baker Mayfield, Mack Jones and Jared Goff all threw three touchdowns. Matt Stafford even went one further, throwing four against a 49ers’ defense that loses more players each week.
In today's game, Matthew Stafford became the first QB in franchise history and seventh QB in NFL history to throw 4+ touchdowns in three regular season games.#Rams | #RamsHouse pic.twitter.com/DAysjkKyHs

Davante Adams might not have joined the hat trick club this week, but he’s certainly hot!

But everyone knows defense is more fun, and Danielle Hunter proved that with 3.5 sacks against the Jaguars. Not to be outdone, Will McDonald IV recorded four of the Jets’ six sacks of Cleveland’s Dillon Gabriel (because the Browns want to get all of their quarterbacks injured).

You know what else is hot in Week 10? Colleen Wolfe’s game picks. Some people might have picked the Patriots to beat the Buccaneers, and some other people might have picked the Dolphins to beat the Bills. But nobody would have picked both of those things to happen!

What’s Knott in Football – Week 10
Two words – the Raiders. It’s safe to say NFL team owners don’t need to worry about the Raiders having an unfair advantage because Tom Brady is in Fox Sports’ production meetings. If the Raiders are cheating, it’s not working!

Raiders vs. Broncos is the first game in NFL history where:
• Neither team scored more than 10 points
• Neither team had more than 10 first downs
• Both teams had 11+ penalties
The offense seems too complicated for Geno Smith to run, and the offensive line is too dinged up to spring Ashton Jeanty free. The defensive front looks pretty good, but if a team that can’t score points isn’t going to win many games in the NFL.
The Broncos’ offense also looks clunky, but their quarterback is only in his second season, and if Sean Payton has to rely on his special teams to win games, he won’t really care as long as they’re winning.
It’s safe to say Geno Smith’s Cinderella story has come to a denouement with him turning into a pumpkin a week after Halloween. The only saving grace for the controversial veteran is that Bo Nix also struggled in a gusty Empower Field.
Both quarterbacks combined for just 293 passing yards with three interceptions and just a single touchdown pass!
Both offenses struggled with pre-snap penalties, and the defensive lines they were facing prevented them from finding any rhythm. Special teams made the difference.
Have you ever seen someone punt a football with their ankle? That’s Knott. Get a load of Jeremy Crawshaw.

Back to Geno, he’s thrown 12 interceptions with just 11 touchdowns and is only completing 66/7% of his throws. Aidan O’Connell could be activated from the injured reserve list before their Week 11 game with the Cowboys. He surely can’t be any worse?
Some would argue that now their record stands at 2-7, and Kolton Miller is out anyway, so the damage is done. The 2025 draft class may already have been ruined by what appears to be an overly complicated game plan and some distinctly average coaching.
Elsewhere on the field, Thursday Night Football provided us with a good excuse to revisit interceptions that will be credited to the quarterback, but are down to the receiver. Kyu Blu Kelly benefited from Troy Franklin’s genuine shock that Pat Bryant hadn’t hauled this Bo Nix pass in.

Daniel Carlson’s missed field goal means we have to talk about kickers again. While his miss saved us all from having to watch both teams struggle against the elements during overtime, it also means the former Auburn Tiger is kicking just 75% of his field goals this season! That’s 27th in the league and begs the question, why are the Raiders persisting with a 30-year-old kicker who has never made more than 86.7% of his field goals since 2023?
Four kickers missed field goals in Week 10 and four kickers missed extra points, but only the usually reliable Michael “money badger” Badgley missed a field goal AND an extra point!
Despite Parker Washington being hot, the Jaguars are definitely Knott. After Travis Etienne celebrated a touchdown with Arian Foster’s famous celebration, the Jags only managed 2 yards of offense in the fourth quarter. If it’s any consolation, the final 29-36 score is a scorigami!
The Jaguars led the Texans by 19 points in the 4th quarter today and lost.

Jacksonville had been 53-0 including playoffs when leading by 19+ points at any point in a game, the only current NFL franchise that had won every such game. pic.twitter.com/BD8QXf307L

Northwest Stadium (presumably it’s not named after Kim Kardashian’s eldest child) became a hotbed of Knott in Week 10. First up, Daron Payne punched a behelmeted Amon-Ra St. Brown in the side of the head. Come on man, we talked about this last week!
