- Has to get bigger and stronger if he’s going to be competitive at the next level
- Too easily knocked off his route early
- Struggles with inline duties where opponents can manipulate him through contact
- Attentive run blocker but not enough lower body power to drive defenders off the ball
- Meek against ultra physical DB’s and can be bullied on contested catches
- Too many concentration drops – trying to get upfield too quickly
The Verdict:
“When playing at full confidence, Cole Turner is a nightmare matchup as a downfield target against defensive backs - either from the slot or down the sidelines. Quicker in pads than his 40 time suggests, Turner has been a weapon for the Wolfpack at every level of the field. With his long arms and tall frame, Turner has revelled as a jump ball specialist that can come down with the ball in any circumstance. A little more focus will help eradicate some inconsistencies in his game, but his biggest challenge will be to add some much needed play strength to his game if he’s going to take that playmaking ability to the next level. Without it he’ll prove too lightweight to be anything other than a TE2/3 used on passing downs, and even then he’ll find the going tougher than he’s used to. But the talent is there, and if he’s afforded patience he could be a day three steal as a future difference maker on an NFL offense.”
