The 2027 NFL Draft class has moved into centre stage following the conclusion of the 2026 cycle.
And while it may be another year before the showcase heads to Washington, D.C., next year’s class is already being discussed as one of the deepest and most talented groups in recent memory.
But who are the prospects leading the charge a year out?
Here, we spotlight 50 names you need to know as analysts begin their summer scouting process and early hype starts to crystallize into legitimate NFL projections.
This is not a too-early big board.
It is a watchlist of the most exciting players entering the 2027 cycle, the prospects shaping early conversations, and the names that need to be on your radar this summer.
How good is the 2027 NFL Draft class?
Generational is an overused word. It is often a lazy scouting label and places unnecessary pressure on prospects to live up to impossible expectations. Still, rightly or wrongly, it is a word you will hear attached to the 2027 class.
There are elite prospects at premium positions, a potentially loaded wide receiver group, and a quarterback class that already looks unusually strong with another season still left to shape it.
Arch Manning is, of course, the favourite to be the first overall pick for a second straight draft cycle. While his play improved down the stretch in 2026, he still has work to do before being considered a locked-in QB1.
That is because if Dante Moore continues his upward trajectory, NFL teams will be enticed. In fact, had Moore declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, there is a strong argument he would have been a top-three selection and should be the QB1 for the 2027 NFL Draft entering the college football season.
Behind them sits a fascinating second wave of quarterbacks rich in tools and upside, needing only refinement and a breakout year to elevate themselves.
Drew Mestemaker transfers to Oklahoma State, and Josh Hoover heads to Indiana, two gifted passers with starter-level traits that should generate real intrigue.
The same can be said for Brendan Sorsby, now at Texas Tech, a high-level vertical thrower who also limits mistakes. Though, recent gambling revelations leave some uncertainty over how his 2026 season may unfold.
Meanwhile, CJ Bailey feels undervalued nationally. He plays with anticipation, touch, and natural downfield placement that should attract scouts during summer evaluations.
Two highly billed names absent from this current watchlist are Notre Dame’s CJ Carr and Ohio State’s Julian Sayin. Both are exceptional college quarterbacks, but at this stage, neither consistently shows the high-end NFL arm talent or physical upside evaluators traditionally chase in early scouting.
Outside quarterback, the anticipation around Jeremiah Smith has been palpable since his freshman season. He is rightly viewed as one of, if not the, top prospect in the class. The Ohio State wide receiver already carries a remarkably complete résumé, showcasing elite separation instincts and a rare blend of size, speed, and physicality.
However, Leonard Moore is equally deserving of that conversation despite receiving less hype. The Notre Dame corner is elite and has the makings of the best cornerback prospect to enter a draft in several years. For many evaluators, he will open the college football season as the top overall player in the class.
Two edge rushers are also widely viewed as potential top-10 selections. South Carolina’s Dylan Stewart and Texas’s Colin Simmons have terrorized the SEC with power and speed.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma defensive tackle David Stone is also viewed as one of the premier talents in the cycle.
On the offensive line, Trevor Goosby may have been the first offensive lineman drafted had he declared in 2026, but he opted to return to Texas.
Likewise, LSU’s Jordan Seaton is viewed as a potential top-10 pick, possessing the frame, movement skills, and raw traits to turn projection into reality.
And that is what makes this class so compelling. There is star power at quarterback, blue-chip talent at premium positions, and unusual depth across multiple position groups. Meaning if the class lives up to expectations, this is a class that will be remembered for years.
