Pro's:

  • An incredibly patient runner with good vision, will find a lane and attack it.
  • Knight has become a crucial part of the Wolfpack special teams unit as a returner; 30 attempts in the past two years for 923 yards and 3 touchdowns.
  • He has a good size for a running back as he stands at 5’11 and 210lbs.
  • Has good explosiveness and excellent straight line speed.
  • Good strength and is difficult to bring down, forcing 81 missed tackles in the past 2 years.
  • Great ability to extend plays due to his good acceleration and lateral agility.
  • A good and willing pass blocker who rarely gives up a play, protecting his Quarterback whenever he is required to do so.

Con's:

  • Knight has never really kicked on from his high school hype. Whilst his college numbers were respectable they weren’t anywhere near what was expected.
  • Disappointing to not see him used much as a pass catching back especially as he actually has good catch ability, soft hands and can run good routes.
  • A willing pass blocker but he will need to tidy up this part of the game and his technique if he is to hold his own against oncoming rushers.

The Verdict:

“A standout talent out of high school having rushed for a record breaking 2,054 yards at Southern Nash. He was a four star recruit as per ESPN and received multiple scholarship offers before committing to NC State. A solid freshman year saw Knight rush 136 times for 745 yards and tapped in to the end zone 5 times whilst also having 7 receptions for 45 yards. In his sophomore year he continued his solid form as he carried the ball 143 times for 788 yards and scored 10 touchdowns, again seeing little action in the passing game as he hauled in 20 receptions for 136 yards. In the past season it was a case of same old same old. Knight carried the ball 140 times for 753 yards and 3 touchdowns whilst hauling in 21 targets for 156 yards. A solid season did lead Knight to first-team All ACC honors.”
