- All kinds of nasty – will impose his will on defenders who enter his postcode
- Revels in the dark arts of the position, and not afraid to get into it with opponents
- Barrel-chested, thick torso that is brimming with play strength
- Like a limpet once he’s on you – there’s no shaking him off
- Got some good straight line speed; quick off the line and meets his man earlier than they’d like
- Better than anticipated anchor – refuses to give up ground
- Able to pick up assignments and be wary of gap shooters or blitzers looking to attack whilst he’s occupied
Con's:
- Stiff. Sideways movement not good enough for the outside – guard only in the NFL
- Limited lateral movement, chasing the block sometimes on zone or stretch plays
- Desire to land the first blow can leave him with poor stance at the point of attack
- Routinely plays outside the frame of his body, and when matched with power can be ragdolled
- Will absolutely hold if it means keeping engaged – could be a flag magnet in the NFL
- Happy with set depths on the interior, but cannot redirect to mirror and intercept inside moves
The Verdict:
“Watching Tyrese Robinson is a hell of a lot of fun. A true tone setter on the Sooners o-line, Robinson is a guy who helps establish a dominant culture within a group, and backs it up on the field with a no holds barred approach to winning in the trenches. Robinson comes with obvious limitations; he’s not the most agile and despite having experience on the outside will be playing guard at the next level. He stands to get better quickly if he can channel his aggression and play a little more controlled, improving his footwork and positioning as a result. But ultimately he looks to be a backup in the NFL whose sheer enthusiasm to go and hit someone into submission will rub off on his teammates.”
