2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Film Watched: Sacramento State 2019, Northern Colorado 2019, Senior Bowl

Pro's:

  • Ultra-versatile draft prospect. Played running back, quarterback and linebacker for the Bobcats
  • Insanely athletic. Freakish speed to cover every blade of grass on the football field
  • Incessant. Hunts down the football on every play with no letup
  • Fluid in his lateral movement, and drops into pass coverage effortlessly
  • Carries plenty of health weight without affecting his movement
  • Quick reactions and can match sharp cuts made by route runners or ball carriers
  • Powerful hitter. Runs right through the ball carrier with good tackling form
  • Has the arm length to be able to stay off blocks and make tackles outside of his frame

Con's:

  • Raw. Only played linebacker for two full seasons
  • Play recognition a work in progress – but when he does see it, he triggers immediately
  • Way too reliant on his athletic profile, and needs focus on hand and feet technique
  • Wasted steps as the ball is snapped delays his closing on the football
  • Susceptible to play action as his enthusiasm to make a play gets the better of him
  • Yet to get a real feel for commanding his zone in pass coverage
  •

The Verdict:

“Troy Andersen might be the most ridiculous draft prospect I have ever scouted. Arriving at Montana State primarily as a running back, Andersen moonlighted as a linebacker one game as a freshman before playing quarterback in his second year. He returned to dual RB/LB duties the rest of his Bobcat career, and has wisely focused on his defensive prowess ahead of his transition to the NFL. There are obvious moments of naivety to Andersen’s tape as you would expect, but the athletic and physical profile he brings to the position are simply astonishing. There isn’t a spot he can’t reach, a tackle he can’t make, and his fierce competitiveness and toughness through contact make him the ideal linebacker in all but experience. Andersen will have an elongated transition to the next level but possesses a ceiling as a future high calibre starting Will linebacker. Until then, expect a committed special teamer and potential secret weapon on offense.”
