- Ridiculous leap negates his height disadvantage
- Fantastic ball skills; 5 interceptions and 13 passes defended in his final year at Houston alone
- Lethal returner, with nine special teams touchdowns on his resume
Con's:
- Tiny. 5’8” and 174lbs means he gives away size and strength on every play
- Lack of length makes it very difficult for him to get off blocks and come down on the run
- Small wingspan could see more issues wrapping up as a tackler at the next level
The Verdict:
“Concerns about Macus Jones’ size are very real, and undoubtedly need to be taken into consideration when a team sends their selection in. But outside of the problems that come with such a small frame, I’m finding it very difficult to find issues with Jones’ tape. There won’t be many defensive backs in this draft with the athletic profile of Jones, who did the business at Troy before jumping to Houston and becoming an even bigger playmaker. The former Cougar backs up his searing speed and agility with an impressive aggression and competitive makeup; not only does he shut down his own responsibilities, but there are countless instances of him getting teammates out of trouble too. Add in the special teams value and huge game-changing plays, and I’m ready to give him the benefit of the doubt. I’m sold - Marcus Jones is going to be a star.”
