- Natural high pad level makes leverage hard to come by
- Decent anchor betrayed by his height, with opponents able to get under his pads & drive up
- Surprisingly short arms for someone so tall, and defenders can work their way inside his hands
- Quicker pass rushers with outside-inside double moves will challenge his lateral agility
The Verdict:
“What was once probably an asset when playing the game through high school and early into his collegiate career might very well be the thing that precludes Luke Tenuta from establishing a professional football career. The former Hokies’ rare height might seem like a size advantage, but makes every aspect of blocking elite defenders problematic; from hunkering down against power rushes, to creating enough leverage to drive opponents off the ball, to body balance when extending for contact at the top of a pass rush. Tenuta’s football smarts, underappreciated movement and dedication to technique compensated for it in Blacksburg, but scouts will fear him being exposed in the NFL. History at playing both tackle spots will see him make training camp and fight for a spot at the bottom of a roster.”
