Film Watched: Baylor 2021, Oklahoma 2021, Texas 2021

Pro's:

  • Thick frame with an abundance of muscle mass
  • Aerial playmaker! 20 pass breakups and 10 interceptions in just three years at Oklahoma State
  • Ground playmaker! 185 tackles, 9.5 TFL’s, 4 sacks and 3 forced fumbles in 36 games
  • Ultra-physical tackler who plays with confidence in his power. Controlled and calculated hitter
  • Fires downhill hunting for the football
  • Excellent operator of shallow zones – seems at home in the chaos of the short and middle field
  • Intimidatory presence when luking behind the linebackers. Thunders around the LOS
  • Instinctive and always looking for an opportunity – has a feel for a tipped pass or loose ball

Con's:

  • Lack of straight line speed – serous liability asking to match vertical receivers in man coverage
  • Doesn’t possess the range to operate the deep field from sideline to sideline
  • Shifty slot receivers expose his stiffness. Gives up separation too easily
  • Short arms. Lack of length will affect his prowess competing for the football in the NFL
  • Surprisingly flimsy arms when trying to tackle at extension – worrying missed tackle rate when not able to fire his body through contact

The Verdict:

“If nothing else, Kolby Harvell-Peel’s tape is a fun watch. This kid had some kind of big play magnet embroidered into his pads in Stillwater - the production across all categories in only three years for The Pokes is quite simply astonishing. It becomes even more confusing when you consider his athletic profile - KHP simply doesn’t possess the quicks to be around the football on every play, and yet there he was turning games on a weekly basis. Harvell-Peel likely won’t have that impact in the NFL, where his deficiencies are even more exposed, and his ideal and possibly only value on defense is as a box safety. But I want to see him on special teams where I think he will thrive in all four phases - if he does that to the same level he’s played defense at college, KHP could be too good an asset to not make a roster.”
