2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Kayvon-Thibodeaux260x360

Pro's:

  • Long and lean frame, perfect for the EDGE
  • Insanely explosive off the snap – if he times the snap correctly, the QB is in for a world of hurt
  • Very powerful hands, can drive any OL back with his initial punch
  • Proved his straight line athleticism with a 4.58 40 at the combine
  • His speed allows him to track down ball carriers from the backside, his athleticism allows him to be in every single play, even when being ran away from him
  • Lined up and covered as a slot CB against UCLA – I don’t think they’ll use this skill in the NFL, but it 100% shows off just how athletic he is
  • If you leave him one on one with a TE, he will end that TE’s life… And your QB’s life

Con's:

  • Bites on run fakes and option plays more often than not. – Play recognition needs to improve
  • Can attack ball carriers a bit too high in tackling situations
  • Doesn’t have an elite counter – if the OL beats him on the initial rush the rep is as good as over
  • A chip by a TE or RB slows him down a whole lot – seems to lose a bit of aggressiveness when facing more than a one on one
  • To win the edge he has to use his speed, as he doesn’t have elite bend

The Verdict:

“Kayvon Thibodeaux has had a roller coaster of a pre-draft process. Once looked at as a top 2 selection, there are now reports that he might fall out of the top 10, and exactly zero snaps of football have been played! I thought I was lower on him then most, but I was very wrong. Thibodeaux possesses all the necessary tools to be a one-man game wrecker on the next level. If he improves his hand usage, improves his hip flexibility, and becomes more sound in play recognition, Thibodeaux has the potential to be a top 5 pass rusher in the entire NFL. If Kayvon falls out of the top 10, a team is going to run into an absolute steal in the middle of the first round.”
