- Doesn’t play to full extension, and longer tackles can martial him away from danger
- Motor dies on him; doesn’t work through the play if he’s been stymied early

The Verdict:
“A leader of the Chanticleer defense that was a big reason for the rise in prominence of this football program, Jeffrey Gunter brought a lot of production to the table for Coastal Carolina the last four years. A conflicting eval, Gunter shows the speed and movement to challenge pocket security as a rusher, but his best tape is where he overcomes some anchor inferiority to be a reliable run stuffer. 169 tackles attest to that, but you do wonder if his lack of lower body strength will betray him in the NFL. I see a varied role for Gunther at the next level; perhaps one where he can incorporate some off-ball linebacker responsibilities in a 4-3 before being sent after the quarterback as a true rushing OLB in a 3-4. There’s some definite NFL traits to his resume; I’m just concerned that more traditional scouts will struggle to envision a true home for him.”
