2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Ed Ingram

Film Watched: Auburn 2021, Texas A&M 2021, Mississippi State 2020

Pro's:

  • Feisty interior lineman with experience at both left and right guard during his time at LSU
  • Quick burst out of his stance, and transfers speed into power at the point of attack
  • Big arms that are violent and generates some impressive pop to jolt defenders on contact
  • Works to finish every play, and wants to obliterate opponents, not just move them out the way
  • Smart, cerebral prospect with good identification of responsibility pre-snap at either guard spot
  • Quick feet and gets himself to the desired depth in pass pro
  • Big hands show good power and placement as he shoots them at the rusher
  • Good awareness to counter pass rush moves, and communicates with teammates well

Con's:

  • Narrow lower body limits leg drive through contact
  • Competitive versus power rushers using his length, but anchor can be attacked
  • Sometimes a little early with his hands, and can be vulnerable to swim moves
  • Up and down effort levels – motor doesn’t always run hot
  • Significant drop off in blocking success in his final year at LSU – poor conditioning?
  • Character concerns? Sat out the whole of the 2018 season due to ‘off field issues’

The Verdict:

“In a deep class of interior linemen, Ed Ingram is another talented guard who has natural size and athleticism and experience playing more than one spot on the offensive line. Ingram plays the game with good instincts and intellect, has a good idea of what his coming his way on every play, and puts himself in the best position to neutralise the threat. With good core strength overall, even if his lower half is a little skinnier than desired, Ingram can be dominant in the run game and rarely needed help from a teammate to move his man. Possibly even more refined in pass protection, Ingram’s concerns arise from consistency and maybe even effort, and there’s no doubting that the regression he endured as a senior will be concerning to NFL scouts. But there is definitely the talent there to be an NFL starter.”
