2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Barno_Amare_19FB_HEAD_46

Pro's:

  • Unreal straight line speed for someone of his height and weight (4.36 40)
  • Showed his speed with his ability to spy Sam Howell
  • When he plans his pass rush Barno can look unblockable at times
  • Possess a great first step, explodes off the snap (37’ Vertical/131” broad/1.54 10 split)
  • Led the ACC in TFL (2020)
  • Very long arms
  • Has showed that he possesses a nasty spin counter

Con's:

  • Below average play strength
  • Usually is rushing with no plan
  • Inconsistent hand placement
  • Could be seen as “soft” by some people
  • Production slipped from first to second season at VT

The Verdict:

“Amare Barno is a long wiry athlete with insane movement skills for his size. Those movement skills took the ACC by storm in his first year at Virginia Tech where he led the conference in TFL. That production waned off however, but all the tools are still on display. He would have won the combine if he was a WR, that’s how athletic he proved to be. If Barno goes to a team with a history of developing athletic EDGE rushers, think Baltimore Ravens, then his ceiling could be the moon.”
