2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

David-Ojabo

Pro's:

  • A fast edge runner with very good strength to dominate in the ground game.
  • Insane athleticism. Excellent speed with a good bend that allows him to be explosive off the snap.
  • He has an excellent burst of speed which enables him to escape tackles quickly.
  • One of the most important assets in the EDGE position, explosiveness out of the stance. Ojabo is one of the best at this in the class.
  • He will use his frame to hit hard and will rarely miss once he gets in to the backfield.
  • Ojabo will make the big money plays and will often force turnovers.
  • Productive in his approach. For instance, from his 11.0 sacks he has forced a fumble 5 times. Big playmaker!
  • Often lined up from a two-point stance in a 3-4 scheme but has all the credentials to be a good fit for 4-3 system as a defensive end.
  • He has an impressive radar and is active in the pursuit which helps him get to ball carriers and the quarterback very quickly.

Con's:

  • A lack of experience. Before this year’s impressive campaign he had only featured once in college football.
  • The recent injury will be an area of concern, scouts will be wondering about the potential long-term effects from ankle surgery.
  • At times London can come out of the snap high and upright which prevents him hitting his peak speed, limiting playmaking at times.

The Verdict:

“Despite only playing one year of high school football, Ojabo still received a four star recruiting grade as he committed to the Michigan Wolverines. He didn’t take a defensive snap for the Wolverines until 2020 as he recorded 1 tackle in his sole game of the season. Nobody could have predicted Ojabo’s rise over the past season. He didn’t just announce his meteoric rise to the scene, he has obliterated it. Playing 13 games for the Wolverines he racked up 35 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 11.0 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. A highly successful year that led Ojabo to second-team All American and first-team All-Big 10 honors”
