- Powerful strike to the numbers and has a vice like grip once he finds jersey
- Strength through his upper half allow him to maintain extension & direct through the arc
- Shows good foot placement and weight balance – rarely compromises himself
- Maintains inside discipline to react to counters, and uses length to control the outside

- Limited lateral agility mitigated by length & ability to play strong at full extension
- Speed at the combine wasn’t as apparent in pads
- Surprisingly rocked back by a strong bull rush – anchor not as strong as upper half?
- High pads as a run blocker, negating potential for leverage benefits on contact
- Not a candidate to pull, block in space or back-side block
The Verdict:
“Another offensive tackle that has seen his stock rise throughout the pre-draft process, Abraham Lucas is an offensive tackle that has the size and length, but finished his career at Wazzu with some mobility concerns. His performance at the Combine, running a sub 5 second forty, will have talent evaluators going back to the tape to see what the truth is. Lucas has brute upper body strength that allows him to lockout pass rushers, and plays with a general patience in the pass game that reduces his susceptibility to any counters or rush moves thrown at him. He’s not the complete package, with question marks about his anchor and ability to protect the corner at the next level, but if he can move like he did in Indy then he’s a starting right tackle at the next level.”
