- Aggressive in pursuit of his landmark as a run blocker and engages with determination
- Effective as a pull blocker and gets to the second level quickly
- High motor and brings his lunch pail to every play

- Not a road grader by any means, and lacks the desired lower body strength to drive guys off the ball
- Shortage of torque through his body to maintain run blocks, and can look messy
- Vulnerable to speed to power combos where he can be rocked back towards the quarterback
- Never quits on a play, but may be susceptible to flags if he holds too long at the next level
- Needs to extend to full capacity more consistently to maximise the impact of his length
The Verdict:
“A true competitor and locker room leader, Max Mitchell brings 100% effort to each snap. But that’s not where his attributes end; with the desired size plus incredible agility, Mitchell projects - with more work on upper half technique - to be a potential pro bowl left tackle at the next level. Where Mitchell will struggle centres predominantly around his lack of core power; he could be asked to put more weight on to help his anchor as a pass protector and his drive as a run blocker, but ultimately it’s about conditioning his frame to give him that added play strength needed to survive in the NFL. A day two prospect as is, Mitchell has the potential to be much more with a few tweaks and an offseason in the weight room.”
