Who should be your top go to Quarterbacks in 2025?

By Martin Richardson

If you’d have looked at this list last year, you may well have considered giving up Fantasy football. But, with some outstanding displays from rookies and veterans alike, the Top 12 fantasy QBs are all heading in one direction: up. These quarterbacks offer Fantasy football players an outlet of points that will be vital to success in 2025. Whether it be as a running play red zone threat, or a throwing machine with a cannon of an arm, you’ll need to make sure that you get the right player who can you get you the most points per game.

Let’s finish The Touchdown’s Fantasy football ranking with the top 12 quarterbacks of 2025.

12. JUSTIN FIELDS

Part two starts with a QB on a new team and it is a situation that makes this an interesting place for Fields. There is no one around to take the job away from him unlike last year in Pittsburgh. Unless an injury comes his way, as was reported this week as the Jets returned to practice. Thankfully it was not as serious as first feared, with him dislocating his toe.

With news of Garrett Wilson getting a massive new deal, this makes him the prime target for Fields to throw to, and we saw in his limited window as the Steelers QB that he can sling as good as anyone. Not to forget that rushing element that will always make him a great Fantasy option.

They improved their O line with a right tackle, and they drafted a first round TE who will be involved in the offense all season. This makes me think that Fields will be running it a fair bit too. I would even go so far as to say there are some concerns in the running game with Breece Hall not wanting to have a diminished role in a committee system, so Fields could end up being the red zone wildcard threat that the Jets lean on when they need it.

With an OC taken from the Lions, a Lions team that was second in offensive plays, compared to the Jets 30th, there will certainly be improvements in this Jets team.

All this leads me to believe that if you have been out on Fields for the past few seasons, then this may be the season to get back in.

11. Jordan Love

There were a few questions going into 2024 for Jordan Love after he got his big contract: who is the WR1? Will Josh Jacobs compliment this offense? Can Love stay healthy all season? Well, in 2025 they drafted Matthew Golden in the first round, Jacobs was a Top 5 RB in Fantasy football and in general and no Love cannot stay as healthy as everyone had hoped. He played when injured and that is never ideal. He doesn’t like to rush the ball and he knows he can lean on Jacobs when needed. Golden helps him massively as an outlet down the field other than the rag tag bunch they had once Christian Watson inevitably got injured.

10. Brock Purdy

It wouldn’t be the 49ers if there wasn’t some kind of problem heading into the new season. There are so many issues down in San Francisco when it comes to the WR position. Currently, there is no Brandon Aiyuk or Ricky Pearsall at the moment for Purdy to practice with in camp, which makes for troublesome reading. Then you should be able to rely on Juwan Jennings? Apparently not because he wants a new deal or a trade; which always happens in the offseason with someone. He does have a healthy Christian McCaffrey back on his team, so that will be a massive bonus. You may just want to see just how fit he is though before committing to either player I the draft. One thing we know Purdy is good at is dropping back and making some great intermediate plays in a typical Shanahan offense. If that continues, then keep an eye on how well George Kittle starts the season. Having both CMc and Kittle makes me think that Purdy will be ok even if he has a slow start. Just make sure to track how that offense gets on as camps set in and news comes out.

9. caleb williams

Let’s face it, last year was a disaster. But even in all that chaos he managed to finish as the QB19 last year, which shows just how much promise he has entering his second season. Whilst he had 0 rushing TDs, Williams averaged 6 yards per carry. He could well have that tapped into if Ben Johnson gets into his creative mindset. Johnson has come in and given Williams an improved O line which will no doubt help how he works in the Bears offense as well.

With first round draft pick TE Colston Loveland and WR rookie Luther Burden III (check his injury status, at time of writing got a hamstring injury) to add to Rome Odunze, DJ Moore and DeAndre Swift, he has the chance to be a top QB in Fantasy football. Plus, he has a little bit of the swag that you need when it comes to being an NFL QB, which I think makes a bit of a difference when you want to draft a player.

Now I love a stat, so how about this: Ben Johnson’s offense was first in red zone scoring drives 4.3, the Bears were last with 2.2. Williams will be better than last year, simple as when you factor in this kind of production in the red zone.

8. Bo Nix

The Broncos have a top 5 offensive line which makes Nix an interesting person to look at in your Fantasy draft. He was a great player in 2024, and I don’t see that changing in 2025. The Broncos have improved their team after a difficult cap situation in 2024 and Nix could flourish in year two. They’ve drafted RB RJ Harvey (all aboard that hype train this offseason) and given a lucrative deal TE Evan Engram to show off a very productive offseason, as well as having breakout candidate Pat Byrant in the WR room as well, so it would not shock me for Nix to be Top 10 Fantasy QB. Does it make him a sleeper simply because he is not a fashionable name? Possibly. I think if he is there and you need a QB, you would should be looking to Nix to be part of a successfully Fantasy lineup for you.

7. Baker Mayfield

I don’t get why people are not looking at Baker Mayfield and the Bucs as a serious team. In Fantasy terms, they have everything you need to consider most of their offensive players when you are drafting. He finished QB5 in points per game in 2024, so he’s a legit Fantasy QB. In Mayfield you have a QB that when he gets a chip on his shoulder or a need to carry the team on his back, he does so with such energy and aggression that it is infectious. Maybe that is why I am so high on him in 2025. He picks up rushing yards when he is so elusive on a scrambled play that helps you get more and more points when you need them. Then you have three, no four, no five WR options that Mayfield can throw to: Messrs. Evans, Godwin, Egbuka, McMillan and Palmer all give the Bucs offense a real chance at being a top team in the NFC. In terms of Fantasy, all those options and my Fantasy RB heartthrob Bucky Irving in the mix too, make Mayfield a Top 10 option when it comes to how he plays in 2025.

6. Patrick Mahomes

Unlike some of the quarterbacks ahead of him in the rankings, Mahomes doesn’t want to run in the regular season, he saves it for when it matters in the playoffs. It’s just a shame that it’s the real playoffs and not Fantasy football playoffs. What does this mean then? Well, it means that he will throw the ball so much in the main part of the regular season. Which will see some of those plays to second year WR Xavier Worthy come good and he will improve on last season. Now, Rashee Rice will have a suspension looming at some point in 2025, but Hollywood Brown is back from injury to compensate and give Mahomes an extra target to aim for. This may well be the last time we see that Mahomes Kelce connection as well, so make the most of it. One area to watch is that O line as that needs to improve this season.

5. joe burrow

There are so many aspects of the Bengals offense that makes Fantasy footballers excited. Burrow is part of a throw first offense that allows him to flourish every year. He also has two top class WR in his weaponry with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins being top Fantasy players themselves, as well as a great RB in ‘Fantasy waiver claim of the year’ Chase Brown so all signs point positively for Fantasy fans. However, that O line. That O line is an issue and will continue to be so. Burrow is only as good as the time they give him to throw the ball to the like of Chase and Higgins. Burrow is still a top Fantasy QB and will someone you can rely on if you have all those premium picks locked in early.

4. Jalen Hurts

14 rushing touchdowns is an incredible return for anyone who picked up Hurts in Fantasy last year. This was largely down to the ‘tush push’ and just how effectively it was used and will continue to be so in 2025. The Packers tried to get rid of it and failed. So why not be someone to profit from it and snag Hurts to get you those all-important points. There are some things to take into consideration as well: the defense was so good last season and put Hurts and the offense in some good positions to capitalize, will this happen again? I think it could. Then there was just how good Saquon Barkley was too. Even if Hurts has to now throw the ball more to disguise those plays teams are familiar with, that is only a benefit to Fantasy players as Hurts will still get you points every week. Draft him and watch the Eagles with a smug look on your face when they reach the 5-yard line, because you know what’s going to happen.

3. Jayden daniels

He was fantastic in his rookie season. They traded for a LT, they drafted well on the O line and added Deebo to the mix too. Watch those reports of McLaurin and his contract being an issue as we approach minicamp. Now remember: There will be talk of a Commanders regression, but this is not about overall seasonal play, this is Fantasy football. Daniels will be a top Fantasy player for you. Is he worth taking as high as Lamar Jackson? I don’t think so, I think there is a little drop off, but still, he will be a great pick up if you managed your Fantasy draft well and all you need is a QB. I think what is massive for Daniels and Commanders is that Kliff Kingsbury stayed for another year as OC. He was also just shy of 900 yards rushing too, so he has that dual threat for you should you pick him.

2. lamar Jackson

Everyone has come back and nothing has changed for the worse when it comes to the Ravens in 2025. They have added veteran WR DeAndre Hopkins who adds experience to an already great offense and Todd Monken is back as OC for another season. Jackson has a massive ceiling when it comes to those passing and rushing aspects of his game. The addition of Derrick Henry didn’t mean that Lamar’s production diminished in any way. With TE duo Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely providing depth to WR Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, all these will make Jackson a great pick up and you’ll probably have to draft him before you think of taking any of those players he is throwing the ball to which shows just how important he is to Fantasy football players as well as the Ravens organization.

1. Josh Allen

Yes, that’s right, Josh Allen is, in my opinion, the first QB that comes off the board in Fantasy football in 2025. You can try to be clever and make a case Jackson or even Daniels (at a push), but Allen is just head and shoulders above anyone else. He had 12 Rushing TDs that were not linked to a tush push of any kind, so he can be a threat from anywhere in the red zone. With no real ‘elite’ players to throw to, he finished 2024 as the QB2 in points per game, which is incredible. Even though some players on the offense left, I am confident in what Allen can do with the people around him, including new WR Josh Palmer and second year WR Keon Coleman.

It is well documented that the Bills put up 30+ points per game last season, which for Fantasy football is just a dream. It is fantasy in the true definition of the word. Josh Allen gets you the most points every week because the Bills offense is ticking. There is a narrative that the Bills need X or Y; it doesn’t matter, they have Josh Allen under centre. A third-round selection here is no brainer in Fantasy football. If he is there, then make the move. He is already better PPG than any other WR or RB who is there in the third round when you pick there, so make that pick and sit back and enjoy the success that follows.
