College Football Week 6: 2025 NFL Draft prospects to watch

By Jack Brentnall

Week 6 might not have as many heavyweight matchups as last weekend did, but there are still some interesting games that play host to talented NFL Draft prospects.

Here are five names to keep an eye on in Week 6.

Jaydn Ott - RB, Cal (6-0, 210, Junior)

The 2025 running back class has been earning plenty of buzz and Ott was one of the players being talked up as a legitimate NFL prospect over the summer. He had a great 2023, where his natural pass catching ability and good all around athletic profile were on full display. Things have taken a turn for the worse in 2024 though.

In three games this season, Ott has averaged just 3.3 yards per carry on 40 attempts. His ability to create yards after contact has also diminished, forcing only six missed tackles and averaging 2.09 yards after contact.

What is perhaps more worrying given his playstyle is the fact he has seemingly lost the ability to generate big plays. Last season, 6.5% of his carries resulted in a gain of 15+ yards. So far this season that number sits at just 2.5%.

This weekend he goes up against a Miami defense that struggled to stop the run last week against Virginia Tech. This is Ott’s chance to bounce back and re-assert himself as a name to know in the 2025 class. Can he do it?

Kaleb Johnson - RB, Iowa (6-0, 225, Junior)

Ott isn’t the only running back you should be watching this weekend. Johnson has been on a tear so far this season and has been turning heads of NFL scouts with some hugely impressive performances.

The true junior first made an impact for the Hawkeyes in his freshman season, but a promising 2023 campaign was subsequently derailed by injury. He has wasted no time in bouncing back this season. Through five weeks he leads all Power Four running backs in rushing yards and breakaway carries.

Whilst he remains limited as a pass catcher, Johnson has the size and tough running style to succeed at the NFL level. This weekend we will get to see him face his toughest test of the season so far, as Iowa go up against Ohio State. How he fares against the Buckeyes in a big game will no doubt have a big impact on his draft stock.

Tommi Hill - CB, Nebraska (6-0, 205, Senior)

The fact that one of the most interesting matchups of the weekend may be between Rutgers and Nebraska says more about how far those two teams have come than anything else. There are NFL talents on both sides, but the player I’ll be watching in this one is Tommi Hill.

A former four-star recruit who had offers from the likes of Alabama, Hill began his career at Arizona State before transferring to Nebraska in 2022. He has since thrived under Matt Rhule, earning a reputation as a tough ball hawking defender. Hill led the team in 2023 with four interceptions.

He got off to a strong start this season. His performance against Colorado was particularly impressive as he managed to contain Travis Hunter and pull off a pick six against Shedeur Sanders.

Hill suffered a foot injury in the Cornhuskers’ Week 4 matchup against Illinois, missing much of that game and the entirety of the Purdue game in Week 5. He looks set to make his return this weekend against Rutgers though, and it will be interesting to see if he can recapture that early season promise.

Armand Membou - OT, Missouri (6-3, 325, Junior)

Missouri is riding high with a 4-0 start and Membou has been a big part of their success. A former four-star guard recruit who was the No. 6 overall player in the state of Missouri, Membou committed to the Tigers and earned starting reps as a true freshman.

He established himself as the team’s right tackle last season, starting all 13 games and conceding just 14 pressures. He has taken his game to the next level in 2024, showing development as a run blocker and not allowing a single sack or hit on 158 pass blocking snaps.

There is a lot to like about Membou’s game from an NFL perspective. He is a talented athlete who shows good explosiveness out of his stance and comfort working out in space. This athleticism, coupled with good length, also helps him to make an impact in Missouri’s versatile run game.

One area where he has occasionally struggled is handling power rushers. That’s what makes this weekend’s matchup with Texas A&M so interesting. Membou will be tasked with containing the Aggies duo of Nic Scourton and Shemar Stewart. Both are 280+ lbs edge rushers who have been earning first round hype. This is the kind of game that NFL scouts will be tuning into to see if Membou can hold his own against top competition.

Mansoor Delane - CB, Virginia Tech (6-1, 187, Junior)

Seeing cornerbacks tested against top competition always makes for interesting viewing. For that reason, it is well worth keeping an eye on Virginia Tech’s Mansoor Delane this weekend.

A true junior that has been starting since his freshman season, Delane has garnered attention as a prospect thanks to his impressive combination of size and athleticism. His track record of catch point production (13 forced incompletions on 104 career targets) is also very encouraging.

Delane’s 2024 season got off to a rough start as he allowed six catches for 133 yards and a touchdown against Vanderbilt in the Hokies’ opener. Things have looked much better since. In his last four outings, Delane has been targeted 18 times, allowing four catches for 59 yards. He has also chipped in with two interceptions and two pass breakups.

This weekend Virginia Tech face off against Stanford, and Delane will be tasked with containing Elic Ayomanor, who already has 21 catches for 284 yards this season. Ayomanor has had some impressive games against top competition, most notably his 294 yard performance against Colorado last season. If Delane can keep him quiet he’ll certainly help his draft stock.
