Con's:
- Average at best get off
- Lacks any counter moves – seems like all former Georgia edge rushers have this problem
- Loses his hand usage too often – has a tendency of running belly to belly with blockers
- Needs to improve the power of his punch, too often he’s just laying his hands on guys
- Doesn’t have super fluid hips, never really wins with his bend off the edge
The Verdict:
“Jermaine Johnson is one of the biggest risers of this year’s edge class. He walked into Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl as a late first-early second round pick, and left as a bonafide top 20 selection. He flashes early and often on tape, as he always finds himself around the ball. He has scheme versatility as he could be a standup 3-4 OLB, or a base 4-3 DE. He needs to improve his snap timing and the violence of his hands to hold up on the next level, but of all things that could need improvement, those are two of the easier fixes. Johnson’s frame, motor, and versatility makes him a name to watch not only this draft season, but for the next half decade coming off the edge.”
