- Stats explosion in senior year; posted unremarkable numbers as a starter the three years prior
- Has a nose for danger but sometimes shows too much toughness in a collapsing pocket
- Gunslinger mentality – makes some dangerous throws into tight windows
- Failed to check out of some ill-advised passes to the flat, resulting in negative yardage
- 8.5” Hands – very small in comparison to starting NFL quarterbacks
The Verdict:
“Watching Kenny Pickett put it all together in 2021 was an absolute privilege, and he was the biggest reason why Pitt were crowned ACC Champions. His composure, arm strength, accuracy and leadership are all coveted traits in the NFL, and unless last season was an aberration he will be viewed as a starting caliber quarterback at the next level. The hand size is a significant concern, the overconfidence less so, but if scouts are happy with his ball security and adjusted mechanics then he’s a lock to be one of the first QB’s off the board on day one.”
