2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Tyler Linderbaum

Film Watched: Michigan 2021, Indiana 2021, Nebraksa 2020

Pro's:

  • Fluid, agile center with all the burst and wheels needed to reset the line of scrimmage
  • Explodes off the LOS with low pads and an upward trajectory, engaging on his terms
  • Good leg drive that comes from winning the leverage battle allows him to move bigger bodies
  • In his element when pulling, racing downfield and clearing ground for the running back
  • Remarkable balance, with upper and lower body in sync right through contact
  • Impressive anchor considering his less than ideal size – can absorb interior bull rushers
  • Phenomenal effort and desire to keep engaged on blocks throughout the rep
  • Bruising first punch and has heavy hands that encourage his opponent off course
  • Quick feet allow him to get set and embrace speed rushers in pass protection

Con's:

  • Undersized: Could have a hard time replicating dominance against NFL sized opponents
  • Short arms make him a center-only prospect
  • Can be manipulated by speed to power rushers who catch him on his heels
  • Often had help with double teams to open a running lane in gap or power plays

The Verdict:

“With an extensive wrestling background, it’s absolutely no surprise that Tyler Linderbaum plays like a man with twenty more pounds on his frame. Technically proficient in pretty much every aspect of the center position, Linderbaum maximises his effectiveness by winning the leverage battle, getting his feet and hands in the right places, and complementing his brute strength with an unmatched desire to win every play. At his best when he’s tasked with blocking on the move and able to use his rare athleticism, Linderbaum is almost certainly more suited to an inside/outside zone blocking scheme where he can attack the hips of defenders. Slightly undersized with short arms, the former Hawkeye has done a tremendous job in accommodating his physical shortcomings, and is an instant starter in the NFL.”
