2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Perrion Winfrey

Pro's:

  • Super long arms 35+”
  • One of, if not the, best get off of this years iDL
  • Violent hands
  • Production skyrocketed from Y1 to Y2 in the OU system
  • Tons of production in the backfield – 11.5 TFL/5.5 sacks as senior
  • Lined up on the nose too often – I consider this a pro because I don’t see him as a NT, but he was able to win from there

Con's:

  • Liability against the run – has a hard time maintaining gap discipline
  • Once he’s blocked, he’s just blocked – Lacks an elite counter move
  • Lower body strength leaves a lot to be desired
  • Jumps the snap too early sometimes – Multiple offside penalties

The Verdict:

“Perrion Winfrey is a prototypical 3Tech, who was asked to line up on the nose too often at OU. He possesses a great jump off the ball and when it shows, he wins. Winfrey will need to do a much better job at being able to control his gap on the next level. In order to do that his lower body strength will need to improve. If he improves that, adds a consistent counter move, and is able to maintain his athleticism off the snap, Winfrey has the potential to be a lethal one gap penetrator on the next level.”
