2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

Film Watched: Georgia 2021, Miami 2021, Ole Miss 2021,

Pro's:

  • Rocked up linebacker with power coursing through his frame
  • Excellent length, with the complementary strength to control and disengage from contact at will
  • Tone setter; loves to hit hard and intends to physically impose himself on every game
  • Impressive fluidity to slip gaps and stay off blocks when necessary
  • Nice lateral movement to flow to the football behind the line of scrimmage
  • Downhill thunder once he’s diagnosed the play – accelerates towards the football
  • Has the speed and physicality to compete with running backs in man coverage
  • Astute operator in space and comfortable with his zone in pass coverage
  • Played inside and outside linebacker as a three year starter for the Crimson Tide

Con's:

  • Pad level is a touch high, and cedes leverage in contact
  • Play diagnosis disappointing for a seasoned SEC prospect
  • Doesn’t trust his instincts, and needs to see it before he clicks into gear
  • Doesn’t give up on plays, but isn’t always at full tilt when the ball heads away from him
  • Hip stiffness affects change of direction, and might have more issues in zone coverage at the next level

The Verdict:

“Not many freshmen walk onto a Nick Saban defense and command starter snaps immediately, but Christian Harris did. With all the measurables you look for, Harris eventually found his permanent home as a Mike linebacker for Alabama, but has experience operating all roles - and it’s arguable he projects better as a Will at the next level. His length and nose for the backfield brought him 10 sacks in his final two seasons in Tuscaloosa, and keeping off blocks and hunting down plays comes natural to him. Harris displays a delay in play recognition that could see him late to his gap fits, particularly on the inside in the NFL. But his technique is sound and he has the speed and strength to stay on the field all three downs. Harris should be an immediate contributor and year two starter - not bad for a day two selection.”
