2022 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT REPORT

raimann

Film Watched: LSU 2021, Missouri 2021, Miami (OH) 2021

Pro's:

  • Athletic tackle who switched to OT after playing tight end his first two seasons at CMU
  • Rapid for a tackle, gettingout to his landmarks quickly in the run game
  • Effortless lateral agility, demonstrated in a smooth kickslide
  • Impressive change of direction speed; able to mirror outside-in rush moves & recover well
  • Natural footwork and balance, keeps his feet square to his body and toes in front of his frame
  • Gained more than 70 pounds of weight to play a new position, and looks able to add more
  • Refusal to give up on a play irritates pass rushers
  • Has the requisite length for an NFL offensive tackle

Con's:

  • Effort and footwork mask a noted lack of core strength to his game
  • Positions well but doesn’t dictate terms with power through hands on first strike
  • Playing the position yet to become second nature; rather robotic working through his role
  • More technique work required on hand placement – can be swatted away by the rusher
  • Yet to develop an air of authority; almost tentative upon engagement as a run blocker

The Verdict:

“The excitement surrounding Bernhard Raimann is all predicated on what he can be, rather than what he necessarily is right now. That’s not to say he won’t play early; any draft prospect flirting with first round status will likely be thrown into the fire as a rookie, but for Raimann his best is definitely yet to come. As he continues to get a feel for the position he will naturally improve his technique, and with continued attention to his frame should generate the strength required to dominate as an NFL offensive tackle. What he brings day one is a high motor guy with incredible athleticism to remain in every play. I’d love to see him land in a zone offense that allows him to move and block, and any opportunity to pull and get to the second level will be relished. Raimann projects as a ten year starter at the next level.”
